Last week I came to the conclusion that Daylights Savings Time is one of my favorite “holidays.” I really hated losing that hour of sleep, but it’s crazy how much difference an extra hour of daylight and a change in the weather makes. All of a sudden, we’re dodging bikers, opening our bedroom windows and wishing that someone would turn the heat off in the University buildings. The mood of the town has changed almost instantly.
I’m looking forward to all those changes that come along with spring. After the lull that is the University’s Spring Break, it’s going to be a busy month for buzz and CU with everything from Ebertfest and Boneyard Arts Festival to the inaugural Illinois Marathon on April 11. To celebrate the good weather, be on the lookout for buzz’s first Outdoor/Recreation special issue scheduled for April 9 in which we’ll help you figure out how to take advantage of the season and take a break from the indoors.
Also, spring will bring about some changes to the magazine itself. We welcome Wallo Villacorta as our new photo editor as well as Jean Kim replacing Arts Editor Drake Baer. Additionally, we look forward to working with Molly Durham, taking over Elle Destree’s position as the Producer of the217.com. We’re excited for the contributions that our new staff will add to the magazine and hope that you get to know them well through our content and around town.
