If you’re tired of relying on your daily horoscope, and your fortune cookies just aren’t cutting it, a one-on-one with a professional tarot card reader might be the answer to discovering your destiny.
Every Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., Catherine Novak of Beads N Botanicals in Hoopeston, Ill., can be found at Carmon’s, 415 N. Neil St. Novak, a professional Tarot Card reader, uses the cards and her intuition to give people insight into their lives.
And it doesn’t matter whether you want to ask about your past, present or future; Novak said she can find the answer to your deepest questions.
A reading usually begins with Novak shuffling the cards and then allowing the client to shuffle and cut the deck. Next, the client will pose a question or have Novak do a general reading of their life.
When giving a general reading, Novak lays the cards in a “modified Celtic cross,” although there are many other ways to lay the deck.
“They all are correct. It just depends on how the reader is dealing with the client,” Novak said.
She said each division of the cross has a meaning, which signifies an aspect of the client’s life. For particular questions, Novak will generally lay the cards in rows, allowing the client to weigh the odds. Once a reading is complete, Novak reminds clients that nothing is carved in stone, and that it is up to you to make the final decision.
Of course, Novak has run into her fair share of skeptics over the years. So, for those of you that are weary of activities like card reading and are worried you’re being ripped off, know that Novak takes the profession very earnestly and simply calls them as she sees them.
“I read the cards seriously, and I don’t try to jerk people around,” she said. “I try to present the information as I see it and work to do the best for my clients.”
A ten-minute reading at Carmon’s costs $15, with sign up at the bar. And if you can’t make it out to Carmon’s or Beads N Botanicals, 227 S. Market St., Novak offers readings via online chat, e-mail and telephone. See what insights develop when you bring your questions about life, love, career, health or anything else that is on your mind.
