Before she made headlines for the twins she did or didn’t have and curing the world’s problems, Angelina Jolie was a hot commodity on the big screen. She was, of course, also making headlines for her sexual admissions like drinking blood and, strangest of all, being married to Billy Bob Thorton.

After being charged with breaking up Jen Aniston and Brad Pitt’s marriage, Jolie took on a more demure persona and it reflected in her film choices. Not since 2005’s Mr. and Mrs. Smith has Jolie been seen in a big blockbuster flick. She has voiced characters in Beowolf and the recent hit, Kung-Fu Panda, but the sass, sex appeal and wit that made Jolie a star in such high-octane action flicks as Gone in 60 Seconds and Tomb Raider have been notably absent.

Cue Wanted, a stylized action film loosely based on the comic miniseries by Mark Millar. Jolie plays an assassin named Fox, who helps a young man named Wesley (James McAvoy), seek the opportunity to avenge his father’s death. Morgan Freeman also stars as the leader of the assassin group of which Fox and Wesley are members. Freeman’s character picks his protégés based on the ability to curve a bullet.

As evident in the trailers, Jolie looks sexy and her character seems oddly familiar to the ones that made her an action star in the past. But with rising star McAvoy and Freeman in the cast, this isn’t just the Angelina Show. Fresh off his critically-acclaimed performance in Atonement, McAvoy is moving up the ranks in Hollywood and Freeman has shown to be one of the most consistent actors throughout the past 20 years.

It’s up to moviegoers to decide whether this film is Wanted when it opens on June 27.
