Casino Royale
The construction site chase

When you think of a chase scene, you might picture two cars screaming down a winding road or dangerously zigzagging through busy traffic. Or you might think of someone madly running through a building or crowded street trying to escape his or her pursuer. To make things interesting, a good chase scene might even take place across rooftops, since the peril of being at such heights adds to the excitement. But the second to latest James Bond film to hit theaters, Casino Royale, has an element that makes its opening chase scene more distinctive and puts audiences on the edge of their seats: free running.
Free running is an acrobatic sport in which people quickly move through an environment while getting around various objects by jumping, climbing, etc. It is similar to parkour, but the difference is that free running incorporates more stunts and involves more creativity. In the chase scene of Casino Royale, Bond (Daniel Craig) and another MI6 agent are in Madagascar attempting to spy on a bomb-maker named Mollaka (who is in fact played by the founder of free-running, Sebastien Foucan). Mollaka sees the other agent and realizes that he is being watched and makes a run for it. In the chase scene that follows, Mollaka gracefully sprints through a market and then a construction site while Bond clumsily, yet persistently chases after him.
Mollaka jumps, dives, rolls and climbs through the construction site as if it is a jungle gym. At one point, however, Bond catches up to him atop a construction crane the two duke it out while suspended several stories from the ground. Then Mollaka manages to escape and runs to the Nambutu embassy. But Bond is able to follow him and Mollaka is eventually killed. This just goes to show that even if the bad guy can run like a wild animal, James Bond will still find him.
