As summer approaches, picking which place to eat ice cream can be a difficult decision. So which places in Champaign-Urbana deserve a customer’s hard-earned dollar? I’ve picked four places to eat ice cream to find the best deal. All are local and unique. So which have the best options?
Cold Stone Creamery
Options: 20 Cold Stone original creations, smoothies, shakes, cakes, waffle bowls. If none of those will work, then create a one-of-a-kind sundae with the large variety of topping choices.

Pros: 19 different ice cream choices, one can create any kind of sundae with a huge variety of toppings and on special occasions, the staff sings.
Cons: A little on the pricey end, one can create a sundae but choose the wrongs toppings, the occasional songs the staff sings.
Fans: Brittany Senkpeil: “I love the Cold Stone creations.”
Cozy Custard
Options: Flavor of the day, tornado, sundae, shakes, malts, custard.
Price: Medium tornado is $4.80, small sundae is $3.85.
Pros: Flavor of the day, drive-thru, hot and cold fudge, many toppings for a tornado, also an Illini-themed burger joint.
Cons: Only three ice cream flavors (not including the flavor of the day): vanilla, chocolate, lemon.
Fans: Tiffany Arenson: “The milkshakes are super thick and taste great!”
Dairy Queen
Options: Coffee drinks, slushies, milkshakes, blizzards, specialty sundaes, waffle bowls, various candy toppings for blizzards and toppings for sundaes.
Price: Medium blizzard is $3.39, medium shake is $2.99, medium sundae is $2.39 and small cone is $1.69.
Pros: Cheaper options, larger variety, drive-thru, also sells burgers and chicken.
Cons: It is a chain, after all.
Fans: Paul and Margaret Koehler: “We like the blizzards.”
Jarling’s Custard Cup
Options: Sundaes, shakes, freezes, malts, floats, snowstorms, waffle bowls and a large variety of ice cream flavors and toppings.

Cozy's and Jarling's are technically 'Custard' joints, not ice cream.. still nice frozen treat's nonetheless..
