• Best Place To Nap On Campus

Brad Vonck laid his text books out on a coffee table in the Pine Lounge at the Illini Union in an attempt to start his homework before heading off to a meeting. He only read a few pages from a history book before he closed his eyes, lay back on a long leather couch and went to sleep.

Over in the South Lounge, a young woman was fast asleep, using her jacket as a blanket and her backpack as a pillow. Near her another sleeping woman sat in a leather chair with iPod ear buds in place.

On any given weekday you will surely find people napping at the different lounges in the Union. It’s no wonder the Union won “Best Place to Nap on Campus.”

Vonck says he naps at the Union often, usually in the Pine Lounge because it is quiet, comfortable and the convenient location allows him to nap inbetween classes without having to go back to his dorm. “If you need a good place to sleep, this is a good one,” Vonck says.

The different lounges offer makeshift beds of all shapes and sizes. The lounges are pretty quiet and the warm lighting can make anyone yawn. If you’re looking for a great place to catch some z’s, the Union is the place to be.
