I have mixed feelings about KAM’S being named the “Best Place to Meet a One-Night Stand.”
As KAM’S staff member, I am proud to work for an establishment that is conducive to drunk, promiscuous sex. However, seeing as I spend an unhealthy amount of time at KAM’S and have yet to meet a one-night stand there, this award also serves as a crushing blow to my inflated ego. Life is a trade-off, I suppose.
I presume that people will be surprised that KAM’S won over Station 211. With it’s horny frat boys, dolled-up sorority girls, flashing lights and mind-crushing techno, many would have thought Station would be tops for many future walks of shame.
But I think the voters got it right this time. KAM’S may not be the nicest bar. (In fact, it frequently reeks of stale beer and day-old vomit, even stinking up the surrounding block.) But the atmosphere makes it a great place to get drunk and make some bad decisions.
“KAM’S is a good place to meet a one-night stand because we have a lot of girls, there’s diversity, it’s Greek and non-Greek and everyone just loves to have a good time,” said KAM’S Manager Chad Lewis.
When everyone in the bar has no motivation other than to get drunk and have fun, inhibitions decrease rapidly. And this (apparently) leads to lots of hooking up.
“Proud? I’m not necessarily proud [of the award],” Lewis said. “I’m more flattered. This means that we’re providing quality entertainment for our customers.”
KAM’S: Drink beer, eat popcorn, get laid.
