Clients sit at large, leather pedicure stations with sparkling foot basins as their nails are clipped, filed and polished to perfection. Gumball-like bottles of OPI nail polish in every imaginable color line the wall of the manicure station, waiting for the next client’s selection.

BJ Grand Salon and Spa, located at 3006 Crossing Court in Champaign, means business when it comes to nails. In addition to being a full-service salon, they offer more than 10 different kinds of manicures and pedicures, ranging from a basic manicure to an all-out Seascape Pedicure that involves self-heating mud, cryotonic gel and a lower-leg massage.

Salon Manager Tammy Lorenz says that clients choose BJ Grand Salon for their nail services because of its reputation, cleanliness and atmosphere. But it’s not just those factors that distinguish BJ Grand Salon from other nail salons — it’s the people.

“When people have a great place to work, it shows in the work they do,” says Lorenz.

Lorenz also emphasizes education with her staff that includes learning new techniques and sanitation methods.

Manicures are performed in a special area of the salon, and pedicures are performed in one of two spa areas. Other services include massage, a full-service hair salon, waxing, facials, make-up and pretty much any other spa treatment you can dream up.

Lorenz says it’s best to make an appointment, but walk-ins are also accepted. Nail services start at $23.
