Last night’s episode of Gossip Girl, “You’ve got Yale!” centered on the wait for college acceptance letters. Like everything else in the show, the process was ridiculously complicated for the lives of the characters. Serena, Blair and Dan all anxiously await their acceptance to Yale. Serena and Dan get in, while Blair gets waitlisted. Meanwhile, Lily and Rufus awkwardly parade around making out in front of their children, who are still freaked out about their parents’ relationship. As if the discovery of their child hadn’t made things complicated enough, them waltzing downstairs in the morning like it’s no big deal doesn’t help. Chuck goes to Lily for help dethroning his uncle, in attempts to take over his father’s company. They succeed, and after Chuck’s uncle randomly attacks Lily in a bathroom, she ends up adopting Chuck, who then shows the humanity that we don’t get to see very often and moves back in with his family. A new teacher at the school stirs things up by giving Blair her first B and showing up in Brooklyn where her and Dan flirt. In the end, Serena declines her acceptance and choses to go to Brown, and Blair gets into Yale, getting what she wants like usual.

This episode finally brought some conclusions for storylines that seemed to be going on forever. Chuck has his father’s company and has stopped being a complete train wreck, college choices have been made, Lily and Rufus are together and Blair is back to her usual manipulation. We are however left with uncertainty about Serena and Dan. Going to separate colleges and having a shared half-sibling? They sort of seem doomed. It should be interesting to how things are wrapped up as the school year ends, and things are, as usual, teetering on the brink of utter ridiculousness.
