One of the largest craft shows in the Midwest is just around the corner. The annual Chris Cringle craft show has been a popular event in years past, and now it’s back in town again. This year the show will feature more than 140 booths, and will fill all three floors of the Assembly Hall. The festival will take place on Friday, Nov. 7 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Saturday, Nov. 8 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

“There’s really something for everyone that comes through,” said Jo Menacher, president of IHDA.

Menacher said that in previous years, students have stopped at the show for a study break and to get a start on holiday shopping.

The event is sponsored by the Illinois Heartland Decorative Artists and will feature a variety of different crafts, ranging from holiday gifts to everyday items. All crafts are supplied by artists from local areas, some traveling from as far as Michigan.

Tickets are $5 each and can be purchased at the Assembly Hall box office for adults; children get in for free. With a ticket purchase, guests are eligible for an entry in various raffles for door prizes, such as holiday ornaments and Thanksgiving pieces. In addition to the door prizes, there will be a larger raffle for a hand-painted, hand-designed holiday quilt. Proceeds go toward the funding for some of the IHDA’s many projects, including donations for the 4-H Camp, memory boxes for hospitals and the Department of Children and Family Services.
