Fall semester is coming and the walls in your new apartment are bare. This week the Digital Domain features two unique image creation tools in the form of an online rasterisation tool.

Rasterised images are made up of hundreds of thousands of tiny pixels. Think the Sunday comics: look closely and you’ll see that the colors aren’t solid, rather composed of those tiny dots. To create a rasterisation of your own from your own image, homokaasu.org offers the Rasterbator, a free online client. Images are entered in. Once you’ve tweaked the options to your preference, a PDF file is produced with your image. The image prints over many individual sheets of paper and needs to be assembled almost like a puzzle once completed.

The Rasterbator allows several levels of customization once your image is plugged into the service. Besides desired size of the finalized poster (displayed in horizontal sheets by vertical) and whether the image will be black and white or color, you can decrease the size of the raster pixels for a sharper looking image or increase their size for a uniquely stylized appearance to your image.

The Rasterbator is also available as a free download that lacks the size and resolution limits of its online counterpart.
