The Digital Domain has examined the twitter phenomenon in the past, and there are many peripheral websites emerging which capitalize on the social networking juggernaut.

PingWire is a live feed of images being published to twitter. It’s almost hypnotic to see what people are posting, the voyeurism of the whole website is part of its charm. Pictures of people’s pets, newborn babies, each was exactly what I was expecting, but other odd pictures begin to emerge after a minute of watching the feed.

People post countless images of the food they are eating and screen captures of the books they are reading, television shows they are watching or websites they are visiting. Twitter users are seeking a state of ambient awareness in that they wish to share everything they are enjoying with the entire internet.

Clicking a picture’s thumbnail leads to a link of a larger version of the picture on the service it was originally shared from (such as twitpic or

    http://twitgoo.com">twitgoo).

Another twitter peripheral as entertaining is the blog Tweeting Too Hard , where "self-important tweets get the recognition they deserve”. The blog reposts pretentious and ridiculous tweets and gives the option of giving these tweets a condescending pat on the back. The blog also makes it possible to retweet any message you find particularly entertaining.

Both services are endlessly entertaining to explore if you enjoy twitter, or just want to see it at its best (and its worse).
