There are certain things in this country that make absolutely no sense to me. I don’t get why people use Twitter, why there’s a hobby known as stamp collecting, and why people find Dane Cook funny. But the one thing that blows all of those out of the water is why the always-hysterical 30 Rock isn’t recognized nearly enough as it should be by the American public. 30 Rock continued to solidify itself as the funniest show on television since Arrested Development, with the great episode “The Funcooker”

One gripe that I’ve had about 30 Rock is the overuse of guest stars this season. Stars from Oprah to Steve Martin have shown up this season, and it’s gotten to be a little much. The shows characters are strong enough that the writers shouldn’t have to rely on guests so much, but then again I guess they’re just trying to garner big ratings numbers. Another issue I have is that the show has been putting too much focus on Liz, Jack, and Tracey, leaving characters like Lutz and Josh in background. Which is why tonight’s episode was so great: every character was given equal time and each were given a funny line or two.

Another reason to love this episode is it featured by far the funniest supporting character on the show, Dr. Spaceman. While he was prescribing Jenna pills which were meant to keep her awake, he told her to “Take 25 of these a day for the rest of your life.” Though my personal favorite line was when Dr. Spaceman was watching a mouse alongside his extremely attractive nurse who took the same pills as Jenna, saying somewhat sexually “I don’t understand it. He’s been standing in that position for eight hours. You know what I could do for eight hours? The TV Guide crossword puzzle.”

This is one of those 30 Rock episodes where it will need to be watched multiple times to catch all the jokes. I was laughing so hard I probably missed about a third of the jokes. 30 Rock truly is like The West Wing of comedy shows; lightning quick dialogue that can’t possibly all picked up on one viewing. Just one more reason 30 Rock is the best show on television.

    Dr. Spaceman is the best.
"Nice try Lemon, now it's my turn" - nearly had me on the floor laughing..or as some would say, rofl

I personally love Jenna. In "Goodbye, My Friend" she is so great when she is trying to get attention.

Jenna: Don’t even ask about the wheelchair.
    Liz: Ok! [runs]
Jenna: Also, my old vocal coach died!
